What you need to know

What is not Included in the trip?

  • Flights to and from Kathmandu

  • Airline/airport taxes

  • Visas

  • Personal travel insurance

  • Personal equipment including backpacks, boots and sleeping bags

  • Personal spending money and tips.

Do I need insurance? Yes, you MUST organise your own insurance policy. Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. We require that, at a minimum, you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects.

How many people will be in the group? A maximum of 12 adventurers, minimum of 1 Chief Adventure Maiden, plus experienced guides & workshop leaders from our partner orgs.

Is this adventure definitely going to depart? We need a minimum of 5 people to make it worthwhile. So if you are interested let us know asap!

Can I have my own room? If you would like your own room this is possible but must be requested prior to booking confirmation, we have a limited number of private rooms in our guesthouse in Patan at a little extra cost. However when we are out in the villages it is likely that there will only be shared rooms available.

Can I be picked up from the airport? Yes, as long as we know your flight details prior to your departure we can pick you up at no extra cost. This must be arranged before you leave home.

Do I need a VISA? Yes, you can get a tourist Visa on arrival at the airport in Kathmandu.

All foreign nationals (except Indians) require a visa to enter Nepal. Visas are obtainable from embassies abroad on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport and at some land borders (including borders with India and Tibet). Getting a visa at the airport can sometimes take time due to long queues. There have been instances when passengers were asked to show return flight tickets. You will also need to provide two passport photos and the following fees in US dollars cash. Other currencies are also accepted although rates may differ. The following costs were correct at time of writing:

Multi entry visa valid for 15 days - US$25

Multi entry visa valid for 30 days - US$40

Multi entry visa valid for 90 days - US$100

Is Nepal safe after the earthquake? Nepal is still prone to more potential earthquakes and aftershocks, nobody is able to predict if and when one might occur. However the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office no longer advise against all but essential travel to the whole of Nepal. The areas that we will be in are exempted from the FCO’s advice against all but essential travel.

Travelling in Nepal will be very different to home, if you haven't been before expect some culture shock. You'l be exposed to signs of poverty, as well as devastation from the earthquake and access to services may be sporadic. The food will be very different to home, with the main food eaten being Dal Bat (Rice & Lentil Soup with a side of veg or meat) or Momos (meat or veg dumplings). It's important to respect the local customs and culture to make it easier to fit in and experience Nepal to the max, but also in order to not cause offence.

More Information about the trip and Nepal will be sent to you in our Trip guide once you show your interest.

Nepal Adventure

The Nepal Adventure starts off in Kathmandu, where you will meet and greet with your guides and the rest of the group - your new friends and women changemakers. We will spend the first few days meeting and networking with the creative and social community, learning, interacting and exploring alongside them. Sometimes travelling far to find them and hear their stories, other times walking together through the beautiful mountains of Nepal.

This is a trip to support, encourage and inspire each other and work with amazing women in rural ommunities in Nepal.

It is a chance to have open conversations about challenges that some of the social enterpirses and communities in Nepal have and as a team work together to help solve them.

With the help and support from our creative guides we will focus on finding innovative solutions to the challenges faced and on our return from the mountains there will be an opportunity to work through what we've learnt and how we can transfer these skills and knowledge to our own lives.
